We are currently dealing with a significant number of mailings in the Royal Mail Network for the local PCC and Mayoral elections that are due to take place in May 2024. Where customers are handing such mailings over via Royal Mail Wholesale. it is vitally important that customers follow the Key National Posting (KNP) process (see Appendix B of the Access User Guide), in particular the timelines for notifying Royal Mail of such mailings. This really helps us with managing these mailings through our network so that end customers can be confident in their mailing plans and anticipated receipt dates.

All election mailings are classed as KNPs regardless of the size of the mailing. Therefore, if you have not done so already, can you check with your customers and their supply chains to establish that all of their election mailings have been flagged to you and that you have notified these as KNPs within DocketHub.  Please notify any known KNPs, ideally at least 7 days before handover and update your FTE file as soon as you have it available.
