The Government has published guidance on 31 December 2020, regarding the movement of items from Great Britain to Northern Ireland. Based on the guidance we can confirm that Wholesale customers are not required to make any changes to the way they send items from Great Britain, for delivery by Royal Mail in Northern Ireland, from 1 January 2021, except under the following exception. This may affect some Wholesale customers.
From 1 January 2021 until 31 March 2021, HMRC is adopting a temporary approach to declaration requirements for some movements from Great Britain to Northern Ireland, of prohibited and restricted goods as well as excise goods such as alcohol and tobacco. We remain in close contact with Government on this and will update Wholesale customers shortly if any changes are required in order to send such items with Royal Mail. You should consult the Government website for further guidance.
In the interim, Royal Mail will continue to deliver items to recipients in Northern Ireland as usual for Wholesale customers.
