Removal of Guernsey flights from 1 April 2025
08-08-2024

From 1 April 2025, we are removing the daily flight between UK and Guernsey, which will have a positive impact both in terms of cost, and carbon emissions.

This follows on from our removal of the daily flight from UK to Jersey in January 2024, subsequent to Royal Mail’s consultation on changes to the Postal Schemes[1] in 2023.

As a result of the consultation, we also changed the definition of ‘Due Date’ in the UK Post Scheme to reflect the fact that mail travelling from the UK to the Channel Islands (therefore including Guernsey) could take an additional day in transit, allowing us to continue to offer a reliable service to the Channel Islands without being bound by the previous definition of Due Date in the UK Post Scheme.

To reflect the decision to remove flights to Guernsey, we are making a change to the Access Letters Contract and User Guide that mailing items destined for Guernsey can now be handed over in trays. As a result, this removes the need for the Tray Decanting service which some of you are signed up to.

Contract change notice number 108 and User Guide Amendment Notice 077 details the amendments we are making to the Access Letters Contract and User Guide.
