The EU has formally granted data adequacy status to the UK
29-06-2021

Yesterday the EU has formally adopted the data adequacy decision that allows for personal data to continue flowing freely from the EU/EEA to the UK.

The decisions mean that UK businesses and organisations can continue to receive personal data from the EU and EEA without the need for alternative transfer mechanisms. However, the decision does include a safeguard in case of future UK divergence in the form of a ‘sunset clause', which would limit the duration of EU data adequacy to four years.
